Summer seems to have arrived late on Skye this year so when the sun shines we make the most of it. With high clouds and a warm breeze we headed south for a walk at Waterloo. It is a short and easy walk with rewarding views over Broadford Bay and Beinn Na Caillach.

The Waverley is the last seagoing paddle steamer in the world and once a year it comes up to Skye. The Waverley Paddle Steamer offers several different cruises while on Skye, sailing from Kyle of Lochalsh, Armadale, Raasay or Portree. We opted for the cruise sailing from Portree and going up the coast to Staffin Island and back. It also operates from other ports in western Scotland and occasionally in England and Wales so check their website for details.

The Kiltaraglen track is located just on the outskirts of Portree. With three points of access it is well suited to people living in Portree itself. It is an access track for a couple of properties so is in good condition. Well loved by local dog walkers and those of us just wanting an easy stroll.

Having being a feature of Skye since 1965 The Skye Museum of Island Life is a popular attraction on the island. It charts the history of life on the island during the nineteenth century. Despite it’s age it is still a reasonably accessible attraction and we enjoyed our visit. You can also link this visit to some other attractions in the area:
Duntulm Castle
Kilvaxter Souterrain
Kilmuir Cemetery

When creating the premises it seems that accessibility was at the forefront of the plans. A lovely spot to enjoy lunch or dinner on Skye.

Serving light lunches and cakes for both dine-in and takeaway it is already a hit with locals and visitors alike! Do keep an eye out for adorable Jynx who is a cheeky puppy in charge of Public, or maybe that should be Puppy Relations!

Kilmarie is a tiny wee place on Skye that most folks simply drive past on the way to Elgol. We stopped and found a walk with amazing views that is very accessible for all abilities. As a bonus when the tide is out there is a beach to be explored as well.
