Cafe Cuil is the new name for the business formerly known as Donald John’s. Located in the same building in Satran on the Minginish Peninsula on the Isle of Skye. On the B8009 about a mile before the turn off to Glen Brittle on the left. You will see the bright red roof. With a new owner the building has had an interior and menu refresh. However it remains just as accessible as before.

The Caledonian Cafe is on Wentworth Street in the centre of the village of Portree on the Isle of Skye. A small but popular cafe to meet and have lunch, coffee or ice cream . It has been closed for a couple of years but is now open again.

New for 2022 in Portree is the Isle of Skye Candle Company Visitor Centre. Housed in what was formerly the Aros Centre on Viewfield Road. The new Visitor Centre still hosts the Cinema, Las Port Righ as well as a refurbished bar and restaurant. In the future it will also house the Isle of Skye Candle Company visitor experience.

Taigh Ailean Hotel is situated at the end of the Minginish Peninsula on Skye, in Portnalong. Meaning Allan’s House in English Taigh Ailean has been here for over a century. Initially a working croft and now a comfortable family run hotel with a restaurant and bar for both residents and non residents. It has become one of our favourite spots for a relaxing evening meal.

Bog Myrtle Cafe is a quirky Cafe and Bookshop located in Struan, Isle for Skye. Accessibility is a bit tricky as it is on the first floor but with a bit of help from the owners we managed. Here is how we got on.
Columba 1400
Columba 1400 is located just off the A855 on the right hand side as you enter Staffin from Portree. Purpose built in 2000 it offers residential courses for disadvantaged young people. Columba 1400 also acts as a bit of a community hub as they have a restaurant, gift shop, library, and sports pitch that are open to the public.
Amy’s Place
Amy’s Place, formerly The Blue Shed Cafe at Torrin, is run by Mark and Alison not Amy. The Tea Room is named after their daughter, Amy, who suffered from Lupus and epilepsy and sadly died in December 2018 aged only 23. In honour of her Mark and Alison have painted the cafe purple and decorated it with butterflies. Inside they tell Amy’s story in their menus and have a collecting tin for Lupus UK. There is a bookcase of second hand books available for a donation to Lupus UK.
Deli Gasta Broadford
Deli Gasta is situated in the old watermill building in Broadford. This building once housed a Serpentarium but is now home to a lovely Cafe. And don’t worry, we saw no snakes on our visit. It is open all year round 9am – 5pm for snacks, breakfast, lunches and drinks.
