The Granary Portree

On her day off from Skye For All Sarah went for lunch at The Granary Portree. Does this girl ever eat at home?

There is a gently slope for access into the building. Inside is quite crowded with several fixed booth seats, however there are some chairs that can be moved to accommodate wheelchairs. Outside is a pleasant seating area, weather allowing. It is important to note that The Granary is just off Portree’s Somerled Square and can get very busy. Consider the time of your visit carefully to avoid the rush. They do not take bookings but they do offer takeaways. This might be an option if you arrive at a busy time and are unable to find room. There is an accessible seating area in Somerled Square where you can sit and watch the world go by while you eat. Believe me, during the busy season there is a lot of world to watch.

There is no disabled toilet, however Portree’s public toilets are not far away on The Green. Here you will find a disabled toilet for which a radar key is required.

Lunch at The Granary Portree

The Granary Portree offers a selection of cakes, snacks and some cooked meals . As well as coffees, a selection of teas and a choice of cold drinks. They cater well for both vegetarians and vegans and also offer some gluten free options

On her first visit Sarah had a Mozzarella and Pesto Panini followed by a piece of Rocky Road. Then, as there were things she needed to check, she returned with Melanie for afternoon tea; the sacrifices we make for you. On this occasion Melanie enjoyed a latte and chocolate orange cake while Sarah had a soft drink and a piece of salted caramel cake. Sarah’s Salted Caramel Cake was vegan and very indulgent. It needs to be said that the slices of cake are both very generous and very tasty!

During the season The Granary does get very busy and its popularity means there is not much room inside. If you manage to get there at a quieter time it is well worth a visit. The staff were very friendly and approachable when we asked about moving furniture to squeeze in a wheelchair. They gave us the impression nothing would be too much bother.
