Located in Harrapool on the Isle of Skye, The Coffee Bothy is the new kid in town. Opening in March 2022 in what was formally known as New Creelers it is already a bustling coffee shop. Serving light lunches and cakes for both dine-in and takeaway it is already a hit with locals and visitors alike! Do keep an eye out for adorable Jynx who is a cheeky puppy in charge of Public, or maybe that should be Puppy Relations!
Location of The Coffee Bothy
As you leave Broadford on the A87 heading towards Skye the bridge and Kyle of Lochalsh, The Coffee Bothy is on the right. It is opposite Deli Gasta and is clearly signposted. If you are coming onto the island it is on your left. There is a parking space off the road at the front of the building and there are more parking spaces at the side. There is no allocated disabled space but this is not really necessary as none of the spaces are far from the door.
Food at The Coffee Bothy
As we had come to Broadford for an early hospital appointment Sarah was starving, as she had not been able to eat before the appointment. Therefore we opted for brunch. Sarah had waffles with banana and strawberry while Melanie had pancakes with bananas. Both came with plenty of maple syrup and there is also the option to add yoghurt, fruit compote and bacon. Freshly made and brought to our table, our mouths were watering at the sight of them!
If you prefer a savoury treat there is a soup of the day and a selection of freshly made sandwiches on offer. Check the menu boards around the counter and till area. You can have your food and drink to eat in or takeaway. So if the weather is nice you can have a Coffee Bothy picnic!
There is a wide selection of coffee and various teas, plus a choice of soft drinks and a well stocked cake cabinet . It seemed rude to leave without having a cake and coffee to set us up for our walk. Sarah had the Cookie and Cream cake and Melanie had Caramel Biscoff cake. Both were home-made and very very delicious. Nearly all the cakes are either Gluten Free or Vegan and quite often both. The hardest thing you will do in The Coffee Bothy is to choose which cake you will have.
Accessibility at The Coffee Bothy
There is a small step at the front door which is easily wide enough for a wheelchair.
Once inside if you turn left there is an area with a wood burning stove. This is surrounded by comfy sofas and low tables. We sat here but be warned, they are very comfy sofas and quite low, so if you think you will have trouble getting up you may wish to turn the other way. Here you will find more traditional tables and chairs. The tables and chairs are movable so you should probably be able to get round easily in a wheelchair. It is a very small building so if the weather is good you may prefer to sit outside.
The toilet is also quite big so would probably fit a small manual wheelchair. There is currently only one handrail in there but they are planning to add more to make it easier for those with mobility problems. If you need any assistance at all just ask the owners Andrew and Rich, they are very very friendly and more than willing to help.
Lovely friendly coffee and more.
Welcome addition to Broadford and we will be back again and again.
Thank you and all the best for the future.
