The Dunvegan Bakery is the Oldest Bakery on Skye, baking since approximately 1870. Open all year round it is usually a bakery and cafe. Due to Covid restrictions the cafe is currently closed but the bakery remains open. Even on a dreich October day there was a queue to get in.

Taigh Ailean Hotel is situated at the end of the Minginish Peninsula on Skye, in Portnalong. Meaning Allan’s House in English Taigh Ailean has been here for over a century. Initially a working croft and now a comfortable family run hotel with a restaurant and bar for both residents and non residents. It has become one of our favourite spots for a relaxing evening meal.

Situated on the A87 just 9 miles from Kyle of Lochalsh and the Skye Bridge, Eilean Donan Castle is a Scottish icon. The castle itself is not accessible for wheelchair users but if you can manage stairs it is definitely worth a try.

The Croft Cafe is tucked away in the beautiful township of Duirinish, just 4 miles outside Kyle of Lochalsh. Perfectly situated if you are venturing to Plockton or further afield to Lochcarron or Applecross. After we spent the morning in Kyle it was the perfect spot to go and have a bite to eat for lunch.

An Talla Mòr 1820 is situated in a newly converted church building in central Portree. The former Parish Church on Bank Street has stood derelict for many years so it is lovely to see such a sympathetic renovation. Now a cafe the building has returned to the glory it deserves.

SkyeSkyns was established in 1983 and is now the sole remaining commercial woolskin tannery in Scotland. Now run by the second generation of the Hartwell family it is a year round visitor attraction on the Isle of Skye. Situated on the beautiful Waternish peninsula SkyeSkyns and the Yurt is well worth a visit. Disabled access is tricky but we are sure you can make the best of it.
