No visit to Trotternish should be without a visit to the beautiful Kilmuir Cemetery. Just 7 miles north of Uig on the A855 you can combine it with a visit to the Skye Museum for Island Life . The museum is currently closed due to Covid-19 but we’ll be making a visit when it reopens. Perhaps take the opportunity to visit the Kilvaxter Souterrain first instead.

This former campsite is now managed by Forestry and Land Scotland with many waymarked paths to explore. The walk we undertook was very accessible for us and some of the other paths we saw peaked our interest for a return visit.
Portree Accessibility and Maps
We have created a map showing the location of dropped kerbs, bench seating and rubbish bins in the centre of Portree village. This has been undertaken as part of Skye and Lochalsh Council for Voluntary Organisation‘s Active Journeys Skye and Lochalsh Project. The is a great project for the area with funding from Paths For All and Think Health Think Nature. We aim to promote the health benefits of walking for daily journeys and highlight accessibility of the village.
