The Isles Inn Portree is one of the most central eating establishments in the village. It has a traditional Highland pub atmosphere. You can find it in the corner of Somerled Square near the disabled parking.
There is one step to get in the door so a wheelchair user will need a bit of help to get in. Once inside the floor is level. and you can take a seat in the restaurant area to the left if dining. It might be a tight squeeze in this area with a wheelchair. Or you sit in the bar area and enjoy the roaring fire. There is a little more floor space in the bar area so maybe a better spot for a wheelchair. Sarah could get in with her rollator without any problems.
Our lunch at The Isles Inn Portree
In the restaurant it is full table service however in the bar we placed our order at the bar. There is a wide drink selection available and the menu is very much traditional pub fayre. They also cater for most dietary requirements, even offering a vegetarian fish and chips, substituting haloumi cheese in batter for fish. Melanie had a BLT toastie and Sarah had the soup and toastie combo with a cheese toastie and the Cullen Skink.
We enjoyed this sat by the fire as it was a wild, wet and windy day on Skye.
Toilets
The Isles Inn does have a disabled toilet which doubles up as a Baby Changing area. You will need to ask at the bar to use the facilities are they are not in the public area. Also it is not far from, Tigh na Sgire, the Highland Council service point. And here there is a disabled toilet that the public are welcome to use.
Accommodation
The Isles Inn Portree also offers accommodation in 8 bedrooms however these are located on the first and second floor. As there is no lift these are only suitable if you can manage stairs.
Entertainment
The Isles Inn regularly hosts local bands and ceilidh music for a real highland experience. It is also a very popular spot to watch televised football matches on a weekend.
