The Hebridean Alpaca Company is located in Dunvegan, North West Skye. On the same road as Dunvegan Castle so maybe two stop are in order while you are in this part of the island. The shop is very accessible for all and full of fabulous knitwear, soft furnishings, gifts, wools and more.

The shop is located at the north end of Dunvegan at 1 Lochside. If you are coming on the A850 from Portree turn right at the main junction in Dunvegan, signed for Dunvegan Castle and Gardens. The shop is on your left with a few parking spaces outside. From Sligachan, drive through Dunvegan to the far end of the village. After The Dunvegan Hotel there is a parade of shops on your left and some parking space. You are here!

Access is very easy as the pavement is level to the shop doorway. There is a small threshold strip to get over but that shouldn’t cause any problems. Once you are inside the shop is roomy, displays are at a low level and there areno floor hazards. It is very easy to navigate around and shop.

The Softest Shop on Skye

The Hebridean Alpaca Company bills itself as The Softest Shop on Skye and we cannot disagree with that claim. The walls are lined with soft Alpaca Wool scarves in every colour imaginable. There is a wall of yarn so you can knit your own wooly-pully at home. Blankets, Shawls, Throws, Inifinity Scarves all using the wool from the 18 strong Alpaca herd who live their best lives on Skye.

In addition to the Alpaca wool items you will find cushions, jewellery, bags, coasters and more, all with an Alpaca or Llama theme. Supporting other local artists you can buy felted soap bars made on Skye by Apothecary’s Garden and handmade silk scarves by Skye Silks.
