Having being a feature of Skye since 1965 The Skye Museum of Island Life is a popular attraction on the island. It charts the history of life on the island during the nineteenth century. Despite it’s age it is still a reasonably accessible attraction and we enjoyed our visit. You can also link this visit to some other attractions in the area:

Kilvaxter Souterrain
Kilmuir Cemetery

Torrin Pools are a bit of a hidden gem on Skye. A Fairy Pools in miniature and without the crowds. Not a very accessible spot for less able folks but definitely an interesting wee walk for anyone else. Sarah gave it a bash with her two sticks and my help and we made it a short way from the car over uneven ground.
Columba 1400
Columba 1400 is located just off the A855 on the right hand side as you enter Staffin from Portree. Purpose built in 2000 it offers residential courses for disadvantaged young people. Columba 1400 also acts as a bit of a community hub as they have a restaurant, gift shop, library, and sports pitch that are open to the public.
The Old Moll Road
The Old Moll Road is a single track road which bypasses the A87 between Sconser and the lower end of Druim na Cleochd. It was always a quiet road on Skye but during a storm in September 2018 a huge chunk of the road was washed away. The road is unlikely to be repaired so it has become a bit of a peaceful walking haven. The landslip is closer to the Druim na Cleochd end so our walk starts at Sconser.
ACE Target Sports
Sarah only asked me if I had an ACE Target Sports leaflet she could give to her friend. The next thing we know we are up at ACE Base booking an Air Rifle session with the owner Matt. Now I have shot a few times but Sarah hadn’t so we decided to give it a go.
