Relish Portree is a very popular Deli and now also a cafe. Popular with locals and visitors alike it is a place to find good quality freshly prepared food in central Portree. The Deli and counter downstairs is highly accessible. The new cafe upstairs will be tricky if you struggle with or cannot manage stairs.

Relish is situated on Wentworth Street in Portree. It is a deli selling savoury pastries, filled rolls, salads, hot and cold drinks and a wide choice of cakes. Relish has come to our rescue on many occasions when we have been going out on a walk. Sometimes there is nowhere to sit in and eat nearby, so a picnic lunch from Relish is always a good alternative. There are disabled parking spaces in both the car park in Somerled Square and by the Tourist Information office. There is also one disabled space just down the road outside Boots. Please bear in mind those visiting the chemist need it use it frequently. So if you can avoid it try not to park in this one for a long period of time.

Downstairs and Upstairs at Relish Portree

At the entrance to Relish there is a very small step/lip in the doorway. There is a very good view of the delights on offer from the doorway if you cannot get over this step. Give the staff a wave and they will be more than happy to help.

Downstairs is the Deli counter where you can buy hot and cold sandwiches, drinks, sweet treats and more. Everything is available for takeaway so you can take it home, to work or enjoy it in the great outdoors. On a nice day there are benches in Somerled Square that can be a nice place to sit and people watch. Alternatively maybe take your food up to The Lump and enjoy the view there while you eat.

Recently Relish have converted the upstairs into a cafe area. Naturally we felt it was our duty to go and check it out and report on it for you. As stated the cafe is upstairs so if you cannot manage stairs you may have to settle for a takeaway from the deli . If you can manage the stairs there is a handrail to help you. Sarah took her time going up one stair at a time sideways but did find the slight twist at the top was a little more tricky.

We cannot currently report on the toilet facilities as these were still under construction when we visited but in the meantime there is a public disabled toilet on The Green. When the toilet has been finished we will be sure to return to Relish so that we can update you.

The Food at Relish

During the morning there is a breakfast menu served until 11:30am. After this the menu offers soup, toasted sandwiches and a selection of light meals. Unusually we both opted for toasted sandwiches which were lovely. We had to ensure we left room for some of the lovely cake we had spied on our way in. We also shared a portion of the seasoned fries. These came with the skins still on and the toasties were served with salad and crisps.

It is table service upstairs in Relish so once you are seated you can relax and enjoy the bright homely space, as we did with our cake and coffees.
