Cafe Sia is in Broadford at the south end of the Isle of Skye. At the foot of Beinn Na Caillaich, on a clear day the views from the restaurant are amazing. Very disabled friendly and a varied menu which suits many dietary needs. Read on to see how much we enjoyed our visit.
Location of Cafe Sia
Cafe Sia is just set back off the A87 in Broadford on Ford Road. In front of the restaurant are numerous parking spaces which are all Pay & Display. There are 2 Disabled Parking bays at the end of the car park nearest Cafe Sia. If you display your Blue Badge in any space you do not need to Pay & Display as this is a Highland Council Car Park.
The entrance to Cafe Sia is level with the pavement with a wide entrance door. Wide enough to fit a wheelchair through without many problems. On a warm day there is seating on the decking outside which is all accessible and level. All the table and chairs are picnic style benches but some you do not have to swing your leg over to sit down so there are options depending on your mobility.
Inside Cafe Sia
Once inside the restaurant there is banquette seating around the outer edge, so if like Sarah you prefer those seats there are plenty. All the rest of the furniture is free standing so chairs and tables can be moved to accommodate you. The restaurant is also table service so once you are comfortable there is no need to get up again. The staff are very friendly so don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it.
The Menu
The Menu is very varied and we think we will have to return a few more times to try everything. Famous for it’s Tuscan Pizza oven there is a fabulous selection of Wood Fired Pizzas. They are available in two sizes and can be made Gluten Free, Veggie, Meaty, Fishy – whichever takes your fancy! Melanie can vouch for how good the Pizzas are as she enjoyed one during a visit with family. On our visit we chose some items from the Handy Bites section of the Menu which is available from 12 noon daily.
As Sarah is a Vegetarian her eyes lit up when she saw Vegetarian Haggis on the menu! To be fair there were a lot of Veggie options to choose from. Cafe Sia have gone the extra mile to make sure there really is something for everyone. The menu is very clear and easy to follow when it comes to dietary requirements. We thoroughly enjoyed our Club Sandwich, Mozzarella Sticks and Veggie Haggis Balls. A really good lunch before our afternoon walk.
In fact on this occasion we did not have room for a dessert as lunch had been rather filling. For the most up to date information on Cafe Sia be sure to Like their Facebook Page.
Before we left Sarah checked out the Disabled Toilet which is just located inside the front porch with the other toilets. Perfectly adequate for those that need it.
